(Boy, that was some game to miss.)

The Killer Bees had trouble holding leads Friday night against Bloomington. They had three they couldn’t hold, including an early 2-0 edge.

So, I guess they figured it would be easier to hold a lead for two minutes, which they did after Dan Gendur’s goal with 1:53 left giving them a 6-4 win.

Gendur continued his hot streak, picking up his second hat trick of the season. All three goals came in the third period, including a shorthanded tally thanks to a slick pass from Brandon Campos that gave the Bees a short-lived 4-3 lead.

Gendur now has four goals and five points in his last two games and has jumped up to eighth in the league in scoring at 57 points. His line with Campos and Tomas Klempa had seven points and continued to produce.

Most encouragingly for the Bees, that line wasn’t even their best Friday.

Brady Leavold had his second consecutive strong game as he scored once, added an assist and fought to pick up the Gordie Howe hat trick. Aaron Lee had two more goals and Jason Dixon had two assists.

Dixon and especially Lee are streaky players. If they get on a hot streak and Leavold continues his resurgence, the Bees could finally have the scoring depth they’ve lacked for much of the season.

— I missed this from a couple days ago but Terry Ruskowski has now moved into fourth place on the CHL games coached list with 627. He’s 29 away from tying Chris Stewart, meaning he’ll pass the Colorado Eagles coach sometime early next season.

— Tulsa kept pace with the Bees by beating Texas 2-1. That snapped a seven-game winning streak for the Brahmas.

— I did not cover Friday’s game and I’d say I’m highly doubtful for Saturday. Our staff is at three people right now and I’m needed in the office to design pages. It’s not optimal and I’d obviously prefer covering games but I have to do what I have to do.

I ask for your patience and understanding.
